Import SpinTouch readings into a service report
Pull LaMotte SpinTouch results into the POM mobile app over Bluetooth: one tap fills every reading on the service report and updates the dosing.
If your techs test water with a LaMotte SpinTouch, the POM mobile app can pull the results straight off the meter over Bluetooth. One tap fills in every reading on the service report — no retyping, no typos — and POM's dosing recommendations update from those numbers.
Watch: SpinTouch readings into a service report, in under a minute.
Before you start
- A LaMotte SpinTouch with Bluetooth, powered on and showing the Test Results screen for the pool you're at.
- The POM mobile app with Bluetooth turned on on the phone. The first time, the phone may ask you to allow Bluetooth for POM — say yes.
- A service report template that includes the readings you test for. The video uses a template called SpinTouch Water; any template with a Readings section works.
How to import readings
- Run the test on the SpinTouch as usual. Leave the meter on the Test Results screen.
- In the POM app, open the job and start the service report.
- Scroll to Readings. Above the list are three buttons: View History, Import from Spintouch and All to N/A. Tap Import from Spintouch.
- POM shows Scanning for Spintouch devices… and lists the meters it finds by name (for example SpinTouch-10170B). Tap yours.
- You'll see Connecting…, then Waiting for test results…. A few seconds later the readings fill in.
You're done. Each reading shows the value from the meter next to its low and high targets, so you can see at a glance what's out of range. Readings the meter doesn't test (salt, TDS, water temperature) stay N/A for you to enter or skip.
What gets imported
| SpinTouch result | POM reading |
|---|---|
| pH | pH |
| FCL (free chlorine) | Free Chlorine |
| CCL (combined chlorine) | Combined Chlorine |
| ALK | Alkalinity |
| HARD (calcium hardness) | Calcium |
| CYA | Cyanuric Acid |
| PHOS | Phosphorus |
| COPPER | Copper |
| IRON | Iron |
Only readings that are on your service report template are filled in. If a result from the meter has nowhere to go, add that reading to the template in Settings → Service Types on the web.
Then the dosing does itself
Scroll down to the Chemical Adjustments section. POM uses the imported readings, the pool's volume and your chemistry settings to recommend the dose for each chemical (for example, how many ounces of acid to bring pH from 7.9 to a 7.2 target). Adjust the target or the amount if you need to, then record what you added.
If it isn't working
- No meter in the list. Check the SpinTouch is on and on the Test Results screen, that the phone's Bluetooth is on, and that you're standing next to the meter. Tap Cancel and Import from Spintouch again.
- Stuck on "Waiting for test results". The meter hasn't finished a test, or the results screen was closed. Finish the test, leave the results on screen, and try again.
- A reading stayed N/A. Either the meter didn't test it (salt, TDS, temperature) or that reading isn't on your template. Enter it by hand with the pencil icon, or add it to the template.
- Wrong pool's numbers. The meter sends whatever is on its results screen. Re-run the test for this pool, then import again.
Common questions
Can I still type readings in?
Yes. Every reading has a pencil icon to edit it, and All to N/A clears the lot if you want to start over. Importing just saves the typing.
What does View History show?
Earlier readings for this body of water, so you can compare today's numbers before you dose.
Does this work with other meters?
The Bluetooth import is built for the LaMotte SpinTouch. For other testers, type the readings in.
